What is fatigue
Fatigue is defined as ‘an overwhelming tiredness that isn’t relieved by rest and sleep’. It can affect individuals on the physical or mental level, or a combination of both. This constant state of tiredness could be due to stress, lack of sufficient sleep, poor diet, as well as other lifestyle factors. (UK, 2021) It is said that most adults will experience fatigue at some point in their life.
According to (Better Health Channel, 2015): “Fatigue is a symptom, not a condition. For many people, fatigue is caused by a combination of lifestyle, social, psychological and general wellbeing issues rather than an underlying medical condition.”
Although we may refer to fatigue as tiredness, exhaustion or just low energy levels, there is actually a difference between fatigue and feeling tired or sleepy. While tiredness and exhaustion can be usually dealt with by a good nap or sufficient sleep, fatigue is more complicated than that.

3. Stay hydrated
Being dehydrated can actually lower your energy level and impair physical performance. Research by the California State University at Fullerton shows that dehydration makes it harder for athletes to complete their workouts and deduce that dehydration causes fatigue even for those doing minute and simple tasks.
Dehydration causes blood pressure to drop which results in poor circulation and reduced blood flow to the brain. As our bodies are made out of 60% water, dehydration also means that there is a drop in blood fluid volume.
