Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (mHBOT)
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)

There are various differences between the Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (MHBOT) & Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT).

Firstly, it both differs in pressure. The MHBOT has a pressure of 1.4ATA-1.5ATA while HBOT has a higher pressure of 2.0ATA.

Secondly, both are used for different needs. The MHBOT is usually used for wellness purposes, such as for sleep, longevity, cognitive ability, cancer rehabilitation, traumatic brain injury and for kids on the special needs spectrum. On the other hand, HBOT, which is typically found in hospitals, is used for medical cases, such as burns, diving decompression sickness, diabetic wounds and open wounds.

Thirdly, both differs in terms of efficacy, determined by its oxygen concentration, pressure dan time spent in the respective Cocoons. Both HBOT and MHBOT have an oxygen concentration of 95%. Both differs in pressure as mentioned. As for the amount of time that you can spend in the Cocoon, MHBOT allows you to spend more time inside it as compared to HBOT. It is because it is more accessible and can be used daily. It can be used in various wellness centres in Singapore, Indonesia & Hong Kong and it can also be used at the comfort of one’s home if you choose to rent a Cocoon®.

Oxygen Pressure Model (OPM)

The Oxygen Pressure Model (OPM) by Dr Jason Sonners is used to calculate the amount of oxygen dosage that we get from Cocooning.

Oxygen Dosage (UDO) = Oxygen Concentration (%) x Pressure (ATA) x Time (Minutes)

With the OPM model, we can determine the time we would need to spend in the mHBOT. We can make up with the time we spend in the Cocoon® so  to be able to achieve the same UDO as HBOT. This is the luxury that you can get when you have your very own Cocoon® at home. You are able to do more mHBOT sessions to achieve the same results that you can get from a high pressure chamber.

To know more about the OPM Model, you can watch Dr Josh Lim’s video explaining more about this in detail.

Why does O2genes use Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (MHBOT)?

Our main focus is on wellness and recovery. MHBOT is considered to be much safer, with fewer contraindications and risks. It can be operated safely at home, and does not require the presence of a medical professional. It is also generally safe and suitable for most individuals, including kids and the elderly. MHBOT is more convenient as you can enjoy your Cocooning sessions at the comfort of your home.

You can lease or buy the Hyperbaric Oxygen Cocoon and have it at home or head down to any of our partner clinics and wellness centres in Singapore to experience a Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy session.
