Meet the Ultimate Biohacker Redefining Human Longevity: Bryan Johnson

Bryan Johnson, a tech entrepreneur and longevity enthusiast, has gained global attention for his ambitious anti-aging initiative, Project Blueprint.

Spending $2 million annually, the elite biohacker is on a mission to reverse aging and maintain optimal health. His meticulously designed program combines a strict plant-based diet, daily exercise, 111 supplements, and the constant monitoring of over 100 biomarkers.

With the goal of achieving the biological age of an 18-year-old, Bryan Johnson’s groundbreaking efforts are redefining the limits of human longevity.

The elite biohacker is now turning to Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) to reverse his biological age and achieve peak longevity.

Why He Started Using HBOT

Bryan Johnson incorporated Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) into his anti-aging regimen, Project Blueprint, to enhance cellular repair and potentially reverse aspects of aging.

(HBOT involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized environment, which increases oxygen concentration in tissues, supporting healing and vascularization).

Bryan Johnson’s decision was influenced by studies suggesting HBOT’s benefits in extending telomere length and reducing senescent cells, both markers associated with aging.

By integrating HBOT, the elite biohacker seeks to leverage its potential to promote tissue repair and combat age-related cellular decline, aligning with his goal of achieving optimal health and longevity.

Inside Bryan Johnson's HBOT Protocols:

HBOT Protocol Details:

Duration: 90 days

Sessions: 60 sessions over 90 days

Pressure: Up to 2.0 ATA

Oxygen Concentration: 100% pure oxygen

Session Length: Each session lasted 90 minutes

Frequency: 5 sessions per week

This protocol is based on studies indicating that such a regimen can improve telomere length and reduce immunosenescence, both markers associated with aging.

He tracks his progress throughout the HBOT protocol, monitoring various biomarkers to assess the oxygen therapy’s impact on his overall health and aging process.

What is Bryan Johnson measuring with HBOT?

The following are tests and biomarkers that Bryan Johnson will be comparing after he has completed his protocols:

  1. Inflammatory markers: TNF-a, IL-6, IL-10, hsCRP, myeloperoxidase, LpPLA2, OxLDL
  2. Overall biological age assessment: Blueprint Epigenetic Profile which includes epigenetic ages for the brain, blood, lungs, heart, liver, hormones, immune system, musculoskeletal, inflammation, kidneys, metabolic health and telomeres.
  3. Antioxidant function: Glutathione levels Neurocognitive markers: P-Tau217, S-100B Angiogenesis marker: VEGF (established longevity potential)
  4. Other various performance markers, including telomere length, brain function, muscle oxygenation, VO2 max, and cognitive performance.

Key Findings Reported:

1. Reduced Inflammation:

After 60 consistent HBOT sessions, Bryan Johnson reported that his systemic inflammation (hsCRP) dropped to undetectable levels.

To confirm the results, a second biomarker test (CRPm) placed him in the lowest 1% for inflammation — a rare outcome even among top-performing biohackers.

This reinforces what more research is beginning to show: oxygen, when delivered with precision, has the power to deeply influence recovery, inflammation, and long-term health.

2. Improved Muscle Oxygenation Recovery:

Bryan Johnson’s HBOT protocol led to a 300% increase in VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor), a key driver in the formation of angiogenesis (new blood vessels).

This supports better tissue perfusion and oxygenation, critical for improving both physical fitness and cognitive performance.

His testing also revealed enhanced muscle oxygenation, achieving the same power output (wattage) during exercise with more than double the oxygen levels in his muscle tissue.

These adaptations don’t just impact short-term performance. They also have pro-longevity effects, influencing gene expression linked to ageing and cellular resilience.

3. Improved Brain Health:

A 28.6% decrease in the brain damage and dementia marker pTAU127.

Because a lower pTAU127 means lower brain inflammation, and a sign of improved brain health.

4. Younger Skin Ageing:

After his protocol, Bryan Johnson reported a younger facial skin of 38 years post-HBOT compared to 39 years pre-HBOT, and a huge improvement in UV spots score.

At O2genes, we’ve seen similar outcomes firsthand.

We work closely with wellness & aesthetic clinics to integrate Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) as part of their youthful skin optimisation and post-surgical recovery protocols, helping their clients heal faster, reduce inflammation, and support collagen production from within.

Because beauty isn’t just skin deep. It starts at the cellular level.
