Focus & energy.

After 60 sessions, healthy adults over 64 showed better focus and processed information faster than the comparison group.

Introduction

After 60 HBOT sessions, older adults showed better focus and processed information faster.

Of 63 healthy adults older than 64, 33 received HBOT and 30 did not. The HBOT group completed 60 sessions. Each session lasted 90 minutes at 2 ATA.

Those tests measured whether participants could maintain focus and process information quickly.

Methodology

A three-month trial compared 33 HBOT participants with 30 controls.

Hadanny et al. randomly assigned 63 healthy adults older than 64 years to HBOT (33 people) or a comparison group (30 people) for three months. The HBOT group completed 60 sessions, five days a week. Each used 100% oxygen at 2 ATA, twice everyday air pressure, for 90 minutes, with a five-minute air break every 20 minutes. They then used standard cognitive tests and a scan of blood flow in the brain.[1]

Vadas et al. asked 22 healthy volunteers to do a multitasking test twice: once in ordinary air at everyday pressure, and once in 100% oxygen at 2 ATA.[2]

Results and Discussion

The biggest gains were focus and processing speed.

Hadanny et al. reported higher attention and information-processing scores in the HBOT group than in the comparison group. In plain terms, participants held focus during the test and worked through information faster. Some brain regions showed more blood flow. Those adults were healthy and older than 64.[1]

Vadas et al. reported a change in multitasking during one hyperbaric oxygen session versus air. One session in healthy volunteers does not show a lasting effect on focus.[2]

The three-month trial provides the stronger result. The one-session study only shows what changed during that single session.

Summary and Conclusion

That result came from 60 hospital sessions over three months.

An HBOT cocoon® is a wellness system. When comparing this research with a home routine, keep the hospital protocol in mind: 2 ATA for 90 minutes, five days a week, over three months.
